New designer at Adax

Sofie Ken is the former head designer at the Danish clothing brand HOSBJERG. At HOSBJERG Sofie oversaw the design and concept development for every collection. As ADAX new designer, Sofie has entered to have a look at ADAX with fresh new eyes.

What is your vision with ADAX?

My vision is not to only design a collection of bags, but to create a universe around ADAX that people want to be a part of. ADXA has existed since 1982 and is an established Danish brand with a long history. My challenge will be to think new, but at the same time keeping the brands values in mind. First of all, I would like to add some more colour!

How would you describe your personal style?

Colourful, sometimes a bit crazy and full of contrasts. My style also reflects in many of my designs. The most important thing for me though, is that what I wear has a function and comfort. If I can’t bike in a dress, I return it. The same with a bag – if it can’t handle the rain I’m not going to get it. Function for me is very important!

Since you love colour so much: what is your favourite colour right now?

GREEN! I love green. I think it can be matched with so many different colours like purple, red, blue... Well almost anything!

Do you have an idea on how to approach your first collection?

I always start with researching a lot before I begin on a new collection. I find lots of my inspiration from Instagram and what I see on the streets, and also the latest vacation I went on. Then I build it from there, lying sleepless at night until suddenly I get an idea from all the material I have sourced. Sometimes it takes a while, other times it all makes sense from the beginning – but I always follow my intuition.
